The 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee took place in South Korea from August 19 to August 29. This was the first time the committee had convened outside Europe and North America. The meeting concluded on August 29 after a ten-day period dedicated to reviewing nominations for new sites to be added to the World Heritage List.
Among these nominations, 25 new sites were inscribed onto UNESCO's prestigious list of cultural and natural heritage sites. These include diverse locations such as historical cities, archaeological sites, nature reserves, and modern architectural marvels that showcase humanity’s achievements and natural wonders across different regions around the world.
