The Aspen Acres fire, which began on July 1st, has rapidly expanded across 27 square miles as of Friday afternoon. According to [1], the fire has consumed a total of 73,366 acres, or 115 square miles, with no containment efforts reported. This places it among the largest wildfires in Colorado history.
In contrast, another report from [2] suggests that the Aspen Acres fire is part of a larger complex of fires including the Willow, Gold Mountain, and Ferris fires. Together, these four fires have collectively burned over 190,000 acres, or approximately 297 square miles. This places the Aspen Acres fire as the seventh-largest in Colorado history.
Both reports agree that the rapid expansion of the fire has led to significant evacuations across affected areas.
